Learning to Pray with Steven Furtick & Joel Osteen

  1. I wonder if God realized that He was limited by humans. Guess, someone should have told Him back at Creation, The Flood, The Exodus, The Immaculate Conception, & The Resurrection.

  2. oh Ebenz I didn't want to listen to them. But after about 5 minutes I did and now my ears hurt and I have a bad taste left in my mouth. Why do you torture us with such folly?

Oh my goodness Joel Osteen with that phony smile.... It's not our faith it's faith in GOD-Mark 11:22!!!!! and it's according to HIS WILL..

"This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us." -1 John 5:14 (according to HIS WILL)

"If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you."-John 15:7 (condition)

  3. Joel Osteen prays BOLD prayers and now he speaks to millions. You speak puny prayers and all you have is this website with three comments. Perhaps you should put on some pants, move out of mom's basement and start praying bold prayers. There's a lesson here sonny.

    1. Dear Anonymous,
I want to thank you for your kind, Christlike comment full of ad hominems and presumptions. Normally I ask those who disagree with what I've posted to present their argument from Scripture, but I will make an exception and address most of what you have stated here.

First, you presume that because there are only 3 comments here (well, 4 now, thanks to your insightful thoughts) that this blog has a small readership. This is an incorrect assumption, but I do thank you for attempting to exercise your prophetic abilities.

Second, you presume that I live in my mother's basement and dress inappropriately (or do not dress at all). Again, this is a terribly incorrect assumption. However, it does reveal the types of "Christian" teaching that you must be listening to. It also sadly reveals the true condition of your heart, so thank you for allowing us to peek inside.

Third, you presume that the prayer Jesus taught us to pray is puny. I will let you take that up with Him.

Finally, and just as dangerous as the last assumption, you presume that Joel Osteen is teaching biblical truth. This error could cost you your soul.

So, since you like BOLD prayers, here is one that may be beneficial for you: "Lord, save me from my blindness. Remove the scales from my eyes, grant me true wisdom that can only come from above so that I may discern between truth and error. In Christ's name."

    2. @Anonymous - August 15, 2012 8:15 AM - aka Osteen's Victim.

Osteen speaks to millions because millions want to hear therapeutic moralistic theism and not the Gospel of Christ requiring the death of flesh...No, that is too difficult while itching ears want to be scratch so bad and that seems to be more what is needed to the herds of goats in Lakewood Stables and goats in front of TVs and computers getting their prescribed scratch too.
Osteen's Victim do understand that numbers in themselves mean absolutely nothing, and many times as in the history and in Scriptures means the EXACT OPPOSITE - full and complete apostasy and falsehood of the crowd for the crowd is untruth as otherwise frequently wrong Kierkegaard observed. If it would not be the case then Reformation would never have any credibility nor Athanasius and his "contra mundum" stance against Arianism either. I suppose you do not bother yourself with such a puny "details" of the Church history preferring smiling therapeutic moralistic theism of Osteen. Perhaps you would bother to check Gospel of John chapter 6? It starts with thousands upon thousand following Jesus and it ends with 12 out of which one is the son of devil.I guess Jesus was not smiling enough or did not care about number$ for the number$ $ake or was not interested in teaching the crowd of life principle$ or all of that... Osteen operates the largest spiritual slaughter house in leavenjellycalism in Northern America. You would do well if you get out of the line where you are being led.

    3. You appeal to (millions) that Joel Osteen speaks to. This doesn't give him or anyone the automatic pass to stand in a pulpit and contort God's word by titillating people's ears and filling their minds with- "delicately spun into pretty clouds of cotton-candy."

If People are getting pumped up by Osteen to a fever pitch by some preacher's subliminal suggestions rather than by the truth of the biblical message, then whatever you and they are feeling isn't a legitimate passion in the first place. We ought to be much more passionate about the glory that's embodied in the person and the character of Christ than to waste our energies on a mere man whose only glory is worldly and meager and always fleeting...

So, appealing to Statistics-#'s is NOT evidence that people are automatically Saved neither. Nor does appealing to great numbers of people that participate at your Church evidence that you are free to twist God's word or that he is above scrutiny.

so you think that Osteen has God's blessing because the evidence is by measuring his success and growth is with numbers?

Did you know that this is one of Satan's favorite tactics. Because he loves to disguise himself Scripture tells us as an angel of light. WE need to understand that the popularity of a movement is not necessarily proof of God's blessing at all. In fact the opposite may be true.

Most importantly are you not familiar with the example which is a warning to us given in Scripture that this very same tactic was one of David's sins in that he also relied on numbers of warriors rather than on God? This is the same thing Osteen and Furtick are doing along with their followers in that they are placing their faith in numbers rather than in God. It was SATAN who prompted David to place faith in numbers than in God.

Btw, the more popular a movement becomes the more it (needs) to be carefully scrutinized. NO ONE is above scrutiny. The more it needs to be held in light of Scripture, tested and examined.

Scripture ((commands)) that we examine ALL things" Prove all things; hold fast to that which is good."-1 Thess. 5:21.

  4. Witness the outcome of the cesspoll theology of free-will. Now, we are able to limit God, we are able to stop God. We have God in the palm of our hand and He waits upon us to see what our will is before He can do anything. The narsassitic gospel, founded in the "christian nation" of the good ole USA and exported every minute of every day to lost souls who have fallen prey to the wickedness of ungodly men. We have become, according to these men and others like them, the puppet-masters of a god of their creation-"For the wicked boasts of his heart's desire; he blesses the greedy and renounces the Lord. The wicked in his proud countenance does not seek God; God is in none of his thoughts." Psa. 10: 3&4.

  5. "The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness." 2 Thessalonians 2: 9-12

"...when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?" Luke 18:21

  6. What about prayer for God's glory? Prayer for God Himself? Its so selfish of Joel to preach such thing. It's something majority of the world wants to hear. The power of Prayer is much more in depth (Matthew 6).. Joel should at least be called a motivational speaker rather than a preacher. He uses paying bills as an example? Lol goodness.. -_- on one of Joel's interviews, he said that all Christians should have plenty of money and not be poor. Wha? lol Does he not know that Christ didn't comb his hair fashionably and wear classy clothes.. Jesus provided in such a way that is beyond material things. Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom.

    1. I was thinking the same thing Anonymous. When it comes to our earthly Fathers, do we go to them just for things and that's it? Or do we go to them because we enjoy spending time with them and doing all we can to please them because of all they've done in our lives-most of all because we love them. Do we take our earthly Father's for granted and just use them? Is this truly the reason why Christians pray to their Heavenly Father? Truth is, We CAN and should go to God with little tiny matters because we KNOW God Is our loving Father and he does care about us. Of course God cares, he gave us his SON to prove HIS unfailing love of HIS to us. He may not answer our prayers the way we would like him to but God always answers all our prayers according to HIS "good pleasing and perfect will" for HIS glory. So when we align our will up with HIS, THEN when we pray and it will be our greatest Joy to delight in truly saying "Let GOD'S will be Done not mine". We are supposed to offer prayers of ALL kinds--"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." -Phil. 4:6.
So the word of God clearly says "but in EVERYTHING", ,,Present your requests to God"
No such thing as a puny prayer to the LORD…

yet we have people like Furtick and Osteen enslaving people with covetousness by treating God as if he were some kind of bell hop or genie and that this prayer "Sun stand still is the panacea for all our problems-it isn't

here's a great message on "fighting for the Faith"

  7. A "get by prayer" according to Osteen's theory:

    O Lord my God, in you do I (B)take refuge;
save me from all my pursuers and deliver me,
lest like a lion they tear my soul apart,
rending it in pieces, with none to deliver (Ps 7:1-2).

Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness!
You have given me relief when I was in distress.
Be gracious to me and hear my prayer! (Ps 4:1)

    Is this a bold prayer:
Turn, O Lord, deliver my life; save me for the sake of your steadfast love (Ps 6:4)

Who are we to pray anyway?

What is man, that you make so much of him, and that you set your heart on him? (Job 7:17)
Job 7:16-18 (in Context) Job 7 (Whole Chapter) Other Translations

what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? (Ps 8:4)

O LORD, what is man that you regard him, or the son of man that you think of him? (Ps 144:3)

Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need (Heb 4:16).

  8. I guess these two NEVER read about the Pharisee and Tax Collector who prayed. One prayed "big" the other said as he was a sinner. Which one did Jesus like? Oh and Joel Osteen GOD IS NOT LIMITED!!!!! I get so angry everytime he talks about the limitations of God because of humans you know who believes that? Satan.
