This 'n' That

Source
No doubt that, by now, most of you have already seen this photo over at Apprising Ministries. Quite honestly, it really shouldn't matter to us if Ed Young, Jr. wants to color his hair. We may have our personal opinions but, in the end, that's all they are. What is so disgustingly fascinating here is that Ed Young wanted us to know.

So, because Ed Young wanted us to know, I'm here to share it with you. I like to be helpful, even to those who have blocked me on Twitter.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I've not much time for further chitchat. I have an appointment to get my hair highlighted. So as you ponder whether or not you should finally take the plunge and go blonde for the summer, please enjoy your week in review (kind of):
  • Remember Harvest Bible Chapel Grayslake, who actually was removed from Harvest Bible Fellowship for voicing concerns over ER2? Well, they have changed their name to Grace Community Bible Church.
  • *Ahem*. Cher gets it. I'll give you a moment to let that sink in.
  • Is there any relation between the upcoming 'Under God Indivisble' conference and Glenn Beck's 'Restoring Love' conference? Looks like there is.
  • A trail of carnage has been found in trash bins in a Damascus suburb. This is a travesty. (It's also a  graphic article, just to warn you.)
  • Jesse Johnson, his family and his church endured the violent storms that last week wreaked unexpected havoc upon the Washington, D.C. area. In this post, he compares the effects and inconveniences of that storm with one that is coming and that will be far, far greater.
  • Which is more important in evangelism, orthodoxy or orthopraxy? Doctrine or works? Pyromaniacs serves up some classic Phil Johnson to help answer the question.
  • Scientists think they may have discovered the so-called 'god particle.' The Gospel Coalition offers a brief explanation of the Higgs boson, and addresses what—if any—theological implications result from this discovery.
  • This past week, classic TV fans lost two favorites. Originally, I had posted an episode each of My Three Sons and The Andy Griffith Show, but YouTube has pulled Andy Griffith due to copyright claims. For now, though, you can still enjoy the episode of My Three Sons entitled "Robbie's Double Life":

  1. I love that you could get all that hate out of a picture of someone doing something so mundane.

Sorry, I seemed to miss the bible verses that you've used to justify your bitterness.

    1. The guy Young is clearly attention seeking clown and that is why he posts this kind of pictures. What's next? His visit to the dentist or him doing grocery shopping. You asserting hate for recognizing his foolishness is speaking why he has those loyal and gullible crowds that he milks regularly for his gulf-stream money. Just give him another $1000 and surely "god" will be obligated to give $10,000. Nope...

    2. 2Cr 4:5 "For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake."---Ed Young Jr is preaching HIMSELF...

Last time anyone was hating it was when Ed Young Jr was on a tirade against Calvinists brothers and sisters saying things like "a reformed theology can lead to a deformed ecclesiology"

WHAT? Coming from a man who slept with his wife in bed on a rooftop? Now his stunt is to show the whole world him getting his hair dyed? I'd say that if anyone is leading anyone into a deformed ecclesiology it is Ed Young Jr!

What does THIS have to do with the GOSPEL? What does this have to do with anything that is biblical? it doesn't.. I don't want to see ED I want to see Jesus Christ. This man is ostentatious and overt in all his ways.

Pro 12:10 "A righteous man cares for the needs of his animal, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel."

  2. I don't agree with Ed Young, Jr. any more than you do. BUT, maybe he was taking the picture to laugh at himself? Or show people how hilarious he looks? The only reason I say that is because I go to a moderate size church (about 1,000) and my preacher is a very goofy guy. I could see him doing something like that and taking a picture so that we the congregation could get a laugh. But the difference between my preacher and Ed Young, Jr is that my preacher preaches from the Word of God.

  3. Okay, because I simply don't have the time today to moderate a bunch of "you're really mean" comments, I've altered my thoughts in the post above. Of course, I stand by my claim of Ed Young Jr.'s narcissism (seriously, just look at the man's Twitter or FB page), but in the spirit of keeping This 'n' That lighthearted, we'll not approach it at this time or based on this picture.

  4. I am sorry if I have offended you. That was not my intention. I do not think you are mean spirited. I was only suggesting that he might be trying to be silly. That is all. Nothing more, and nothing less. Forgive me sister if I hurt you.
Blessings in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!

    1. Michelle,

No offense taken at all! My comment simply happened to come after yours, but was not aimed at you or at anyone in particular. I agree with your point that he could be trying to be goofy. I was using it as one of many examples of Young's apparent narcissism. Obviously, I didn't adequately state my case, which is fine, and which is why I willingly (not begrudgingly) altered my post. I appreciate my readers pointing things out as you did, above, so keep it coming! :-)

Please keep it pithy (in other words, if your comment is long enough to be its own blog post, don't bother), pertinent (please don't go off-topic), and respectful (to the author, to the other readers, and to the subject of the post). If you can't do that, your comment will not be posted.

If you haven't already, please read the Comment Policy in its entirety.
