This 'n' That

Well, it's been a rough week. On Sunday, I came to the terrible realization that Perry Noble had blocked me on Twitter. Then, last night, I made the startling discovery that Ed Young, Jr. had also blocked me. For those of you who don't use Twitter, a block means that I can no longer see their "tweets" in my timeline, nor do they automatically see if I mention them. In short, it's the Twitter equivalent of sticking one's head in the sand.

Of course, the greatest tragedy of this whole thing is that I am no longer immediately alerted whenever Perry Noble is "PUMPED" about something. Since this seems to happen about every 5 minutes, I am missing out on quite a bit of excitement. As such, I have spent the last several days feeling very pumped-less. I've decided that the best way out of this predicament is probably to ensure that my tithe is up to date, and possibly also to send an extra-special seed offering to the churches of both Noble and Young. Once I'm proven faithful in that, I'm sure my Twitter luck will turn around.

While I'm writing those checks, then, please enjoy your week in review (kind of):
  • So, basically it seems as though Charles Stanley, in his book Eternal Security, completely denies Lordship Salvation. This should be great news for all you antinomians out there!
  • I was trying to figure out why it was such earth-shattering news that President Obama finally endorsed gay marriage. After all, are we really shocked and surprised by this? If you were, well, apparently you've been living under a rock for the past several years, so welcome back. At least Al Mohler agrees that it was "only a matter of time" before the president made this announcement.
  • In a wicked turn of events, today I am going to share with you one of the most atrocious sermons I've ever heard, even from Joel Osteen. For your education, here is Mr. "Everyone is a Christian in my book" Osteen with his inspirational message, "Power of Your Visions:"

  1. Wait till you see what we have in store for Monday.

    Then you can stop laughing.

    1. It's really cruel to offer such a teaser over the weekend. But I'm sure we'll all traipse over to Steam Tunnel Pilot on Monday to check it out!

  2. "Atrocious" sermon from Pastor Joel? You meant "audacious", right? Or is that "bodacious". I can't keep my mega adjectives straight. Anyway, he seems pretty "fired up".

Keep up the good work. Always look forward to your Friday posts.

    "You are loved".

  3. Joe Ostrich buries gullible heads again in shifting sands of hedonism.

  4. Hmmmm.... threatened with arrest by James MacDonald's security team, twitter blocked by Ed Young, Jr. and Perry Noble. Do I detect a pattern? Well at least you are still in good standing with Steven Furtick, right?

    (appreciate your blog)

    1. LOL - and people think us bloggers are just lazy, Cheeto-eating, beanbag sitting basement dwellers. See, we lead exciting lives! :-)

So far Furtick has not blocked me, so that is my little ray of sunshine....

    2. EBenz, as far as being lazy... one of the theologians said that: "Far from idleness being the root of all evil, it is rather the only true good." Think about it. There is actually a lot of solid theology in there :)

  5. Can you imagine God, patting Joel on the back, saying, "You got it right!" "You understood exactly what I was saying...I like what you did with the place, especially the color scheme and the padded seats." "The suffering and persecuted church cannot appreciate nice things." "Ya'll should get more and keep more, cause the suffering Christians wouldn't know what to do with it." "Raise more money to plant more campuses in 'God bless the USA' cause ya'll deserve it!"
I am thinking, God is angry with the Western church and we are in so much trouble...

  6. Well, all I can say is God is in complete control Ebenz and God has his reasons for why. Sorry not much help

I've never done twitter and I don't know how it even works. I'm sure it's simple. It certainly would be something to help ME with blogging terse statements more and less loquacious.

Maybe you can use someone else as an incognito to get info for you off of twitter like~~~

Just know we love you in Christ sister and you and your site is no less valuable just because people like Perry Noble blocked you--lol that doesn't sound right you know~~

  7. I gave the sermon a try. I really did. I made it to 4:02...and then I had to turn it off because my ears tickled so bad. Now where's that Q-tip...

Please keep it pithy (in other words, if your comment is long enough to be its own blog post, don't bother), pertinent (please don't go off-topic), and respectful (to the author, to the other readers, and to the subject of the post). If you can't do that, your comment will not be posted.
