Joel Osteen Discusses His Broad Christianity

On 24 April 2012, Joel Osteen appeared on CNN's Situation Room to discuss religion and politics:

Osteen's words bring to mind a particular Scripture:
“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few. (Matthew 7:13-14)
Once again, Joel Osteen has delivered a false and damning gospel to the world.

  2. Wow, Joel, who would have known had you not spoken up? None of what you said is found in the Bible so I guess you must be pretty special in the eyes of your god to be given such revelations. And to think that by listening to you everybody is saved---right?, Mr. Big Tent preacher man. What a comfort it must be to the rebellious souls who hate God that they will be allowed to spend eternity with Him and continue their rebellion against Him on His home turf.

Just one question for you Mr. Big Tent: how does if feel being the forerunner of the antichrist. IIPeter chapter two.

  5. Joel is full of fluff. He's just so sweet like cotton candy and so seductive with his subjectivity to people who love their ears tickled.

"my personal views", "we don't all have the same views" butttttt if you believe Jesus is the Son of God, that's good enough for me,"-- The DEVIL and demons KNOW Jesus is the Son of God and they TREMBLE! Destiny HELL

What about what God's word says? What about what Jesus said? I thought God's word and what he says is final authority not what Joel Osteen thinks.

What about John 14:6, John 18:4, John 17:3 Joel??

It's getting quite painful to even listen to him and many other false teachers.

  6. My heart just breaks for a man like that who you know is going to be in Hell for eternity. It makes me sad to look at people like that in the here and now knowing where they will be after this life has ended for them. He thinks he has everything, happiness, some fame, wealth, etc., but he has nothing, absolutely nothing. I feel such pity for him, I really do.

You know, I thought of the exact same thing while listening to him and looking at his wife in the background lend credence. It really is heartbreaking.... But on the otherhand think of all the countless people who he is responsible for misleading to hell. It's not a light matter at all to be handling the living word of God and the Gospel. People who are pastors will be judged more strictly.

Jesus spoke his most scathing words to the pharisees. They will be judged most severely...

I pray he and his wife repent!

  7. The reasoning/rationale that Osteen uses in this video to encourage people to accept his belief that Romney is a Christian is absolutely IDENTICAL to the reasoning that James MacDonald used when he declared that TD Jakes isn't a Modalist or a prosperity preacher any longer. Its unbelievable to me, really.

MacDonald was asked by Fabre during a radio interview if he thought that Jakes was a properity preacher still, and what does MacDonald say? He answered, "Well, that's not how TD Jakes would describe himself..."

That is EXACTLY what Osteen just says about Romney, isn't it? The doctrine of the Mormon church doesn't matter. All that matters is that Romney says he loves Jesus, so that's it.

Its all so incredibly sad to me, and what is even more sad to me, is that so many of my brothers have just turned a blind eye to all this and have decided to just brush all this under the carpet as if none of it actually happened. There has been no accountability for any of this compromise.

    1. Excellent point, Dan. By this same reasoning, I can say that I would not describe myself as a "blogger" simply because I don't like the title or the baggage that goes along with it. Yet, the truth is, I am a blogger.

Osteen's problem (well, one of them anyway), is that he is either ignorant of, or is choosing to ignore, the very differing definition of "Jesus Christ" that the Mormons believe. Of course, his first problem is that he doesn't know the true Gospel of Jesus Christ.

"There has been no accountability for any of this compromise."

No, and there likely will continue to be less and less, I suspect. It seems that we are watching that narrow road get skinnier each day...

  8. Osteen is an active agent of satan and an obstacle to the Gospel of Christ.

"But these men revile the things which they do not understand; and the things which they know by instinct, like unreasoning animals, by these things they are destroyed."
    ~ Jude 1:10

  9. This situation can be quickly resolved.

Osteen has declared Romney to be a Christian.

Now we only need Romney to declare that Osteen is a Christian.

    Problem solved. (sarcasm)

    1. you have an unusual grasp for the obvious. Isn't that another way of saying--- "Leave them; they are blind guides. If a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit."- Matthew 15:14

  10. I'm sorry people, but he never once said that Jesus is not the way to eternal life, please what is the matter with an attitude of praise and gratitude. Are you people who think you should be poor and dragged down because you believe in Jesus? Mitt Romney is the best chance this country has of becoming a Christain Judao place again, I do not beleive in the Mormans ways, but if he Mitt beleives that Jesus is Lord, we do not all see Christianity the same, but the love of Jesus is the important part of Christianity. Gods loves everyone, who are we to say they are gong to hell, do you know more than God does?

    1. Anonymous,
By affirming a Mormon as Christian, one is indeed affirming that there are multiple ways to salvation. I say this because the Jesus of Mormonism is not the same as the Jesus of the Bible. When Mitt Romney, or Glenn Beck, or any Mormon, claims that "Jesus is Lord," the Jesus they are referring to is a created being who is the spirit brother of Satan. This, then, is both blasphemous and idolatrous. I do not say who is going to Hell, but God does in His Word.

"For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not become partners with them; for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord." (Ephesians 5:5-10)

"Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God." (1 Corinthians 6:9-10)

There is a helpful snapshot of Mormon doctrine vs. Christian doctrine available here: http://christianresearchnetwork.com/topic/mormonism/
I suggest you take the time to glance at it and learn about this deceptive religion.

  11. Anonymous 5/9,
Joel Osteen himself has no understanding of the Gospel and is a rank heretic. He gives no indication of being a true believer. Mormonism is not a Christian faith by any stretch of the imagination, and if Osteen doesn’t understand that, it just proves again that he has no business pretending to be a pastor.

There is only one way of eternal life, and neither Osteen’s false religion nor Mormonism are in that one way. God may love everyone in the world, which is why he sent Jesus to die for everyone in the world, but the only ones who benefit from his sacrifice are those who believe in Him as the savior of the world. One must believe in the Christ of the Bible and not one of their own making
