The ONE Conference Is Set to Invade Miami with a Seeker-Driven Packed Lineup

Next weekend, February 10-12, the ONE Conference will invade Miami, FL, and with it will arrive many of today's "usual suspects" in the seeker-driven camp. In fact, part of the speaker lineup looks like an unfortunate blending of those who headlined at the Code Orange Revival and at the Elephant Room 1 & 2. That's right, this conference boasts such recently familiar names as James MacDonald, Ed Young, Jr., Christine Caine and Greg Laurie. And with Caine being just one of 3 speakers from the Hillsong Church empire, I'm sure we can expect a few of our favorite Word-Faith teachings tossed in for good measure.

The mantra of the ONE Conference is "Unite. Ignite. Impact." Of course, there's very little explanation as to what this actually means, but who cares when you have a catchy video with a great, narcissistic worship song?

The above video asks, "What if the church actually united under the name of Jesus Christ?" Well, that's great...as long as we're all talking about the same Jesus! May we pray that God would protect us from being so naive as to believe that all those who profess the name of Jesus Christ, yet do not preach, teach or live the biblical Gospel, are actually members of the true Church!

At 29 seconds into the video, it is declared that this conference will "bring together the most exciting lineup of modern-day church leaders to: Unite the Church. Ignite the Passion. Impact the World." So, apparently unity can only happen under the leadership of the "most exciting" people? I suppose this makes sense, since often the most exciting people are also the most eager to embrace in a big ecumenical bear hug with those who teach a false gospel. Perhaps we ought to question their definition of unity, because even the Apostle Paul did not teach church unity over and above the truth of the Word of God. And of course, without the church's "most exciting" leaders, we could never dream of impacting the world. Nope, we definitely need big names, flashing lights, and a stadium for that to happen. Anything to make Christianity seem more compelling. Because, you know, that stale old Bible and those boring old preachers who just stand there and open up the Word, all of that is so...dull.

I have no doubt that this "history making event" will fill the Bank United Center in Miami. I have no doubt that Bibles will be waved in the air, Jesus will be mentioned, and half-verses will be quoted. What I do doubt, however, is that the whole counsel of God as revealed in His Word will be preached without distortion. There is little question that attendees will be encouraged to go out into the world and do good works. Unfortunately, there is great uncertainty that the attendees will leave with a full understanding that those good works will never get them to Heaven. Sadly, there is great doubt that the biblical Gospel will actually be preached without compromise.

  1. The new age utopian vision of actually having the churches usher in a united world of interfaith proselytes is coming to pass in front of our eyes.

The Bible describes this as the falling away and final apostasy.

    We are so close.

  2. Another conference which accomplishes nothing besides earning honorariums for its speakers and muddling, confusing, twisting and commoditizing the Gospel for masses according to THEIR preferences and THEIR expectations. Fat cats are about to dance on the stage again and their checks are in the mail already while privet jets are being fueled.

  3. Hey, I've got an idea, let's go to Miami in February which meteorlogically speaking is probably the BEST time of the year to be there. Meanwhile back at the home church the flock is picking up the dung from the elephants.

Another Conference to motivate people or teach them to carry water for elephants. I am sick to death of all these "events" that simply puff up the guest speakers to rock star status and leave us sheep starving or worse bleeding.

I wish these celeb pastor/leaders would think about the damage they are doing to the Body of Christ as they place them on the altar of church growth and big numbers. Shame on them!

  4. I agree with Anon and Desp

pretty sad. I didn't know Franklin Graham would be in such a line up. But then again I've never really listened to him and don't know much about him except for Samaritans purse

I fear for these people who are relying on $$. I say this because we know what TD Jakes is all about. God is preparing them for a GREAT BIG CRASH. They are pretty naive to say the least.Because our world is very unstable to put it lightly.

And When Jesus comes to take his Bride home, he will clean those temples out big time

  5. Lots of money and influence to be made at these conferences. Some enjoy rubbing elbows with "big names" than staying true to the Gospel.

  6. 1 Timothy 2:12 doesn't apply to Christine Caine. Haha.

  7. franklin graham stood alone when he was banned from national day of prayer. where were these big shots? why were they not outside with him?
go to each speakers website and see if any of their churches are offering classes on how to engage with the cults that knock on your door.

  8. You people suck. I went to this event and it was great. 10,000 kids in sinful Miami not drunk, sexing and using drugs and learning about Jesus and praising God? I dont see any of you backing ANY of your statements with Scripture. Hypocrites.

  9. "You people s---."

Um, wow. What an incredible display of the fruit that has come out of the ONE conference. I can see that they truly succeeded in teaching attendees how to be mature, godly Christians.

Anonymous, I posted your comment for use as an example, but rest assured that if you ever comment on this blog again and use crude language, your thoughts will not be posted. Please have some respect not merely for the readers of this blog, but for the Lord Jesus Christ in Whom I presume who profess to believe. Such language is not reflective of one who has been mercifully and graciously saved by Jesus Christ.

Now, just because 10,000 kids were hanging out in Miami with their hands raised does not mean that something good was happening at ONE. When the Word-Faith heresy is involved, then true Christians should flee. Just as examples, Brian Houston and Christine Caine propagate the false teachings of the Word-Faith movement. As such, this is not an event that should have been endorsed by Christians, and it was sad to see some of the names that were included in this speaker line-up.

"Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints. For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ." (Jude 1:3-4)

  10. To the Anonymous individual who felt the need to leave 3 identical comments on this post on March 6, 2012:

While publishing your comments would have provided clear evidence of some of the rotten fruit produced by these types of events and preachers, I simply could not do so. The language used in your comments was rude, inappropriate and offensive. If your behavior on this blog is any indication of the fruit of these types of events, then you have succeeded in helping to prove my point.

“You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable to judgment.’ But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire."(Matthew 5:21-22)

May you seek forgiveness for your offensive behavior and may God open your eyes to the deception that has currently ensnared you.

Please keep it pithy (in other words, if your comment is long enough to be its own blog post, don't bother), pertinent (please don't go off-topic), and respectful (to the author, to the other readers, and to the subject of the post). If you can't do that, your comment will not be posted.
