Slave

A couple of years ago, I heard this sermon by John MacArthur on the true meaning of the Greek word doulos, or slave, in the New Testament. Until that time, I hadn't realized how much our English translations had softened the true meaning of a Christian being purchased by the blood of Christ by removing the word slave from the Bible. This undoubtedly has added to the lightweight "Christianity" that abounds today, where Jesus can be your Savior, but doesn't necessarily have to be your Lord. I'm excited to see now that, coming in January 2011, Dr. MacArthur will be releasing a new book simply entitled SLAVE.
