On the Jewish calendar, today is the celebration of Israel's 61st year as a nation! In 1948, Bible prophecy was fulfilled as God returned His people to the land He had promised Abraham, in spite of their remaining unbelief in the true Messiah. Today we are watching more prophecy unfold as Israel is continually threatened by her enemies. Let us not forget to stand with Israel in these last days as God promised: "Cursed be everyone who curses you, and blessed be everyone who blesses you!" Genesis 27:29
Happy Birthday, Israel!

Emergent Explanation
Here is an excellent article (along with links to many others) for those of you who "still aren't sure" about Emergent Christianity. Here's a tip: if it walks like a heretic and talks like a heretic...it's probably a heretic. Translation: the Emergent Church is full of heretics and a true Christ-follower should stay away!

No Kids
Here are some of the reasons why I'm thankful that I don't feel God calling me into the wife/mother role. There is no way that I'd want to bring a child into this world anymore.
KEEP KIDS HOME, PARENTS ARE TOLD
VERMONT CONSIDERS LEGALIZING TEEN "SEXTING"
OBAMA YOUTH BRIGADE: CHURCH ATTENDANCE FORBIDDEN
CHRISTIAN COLLEGE CREATES HOMOSEXUAL HOUSING
SCHOOL HOLDS SURPRISE 'GAY' DAY FOR KINDERGARTNERS
MAINSTREAMING BLASPHEMY
RAPE AND FORCED ABORTION IN VIDEO GAME???
I could go on, but do I really need to? I hope you at least skim these articles so you see just how disgustingly low our country and our world has fallen.

Apostasy Abounds-UPDATE
Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary defines "apostasy" as: renunciation of a religious faith; abandonment of a previous loyalty
Jesus warns of false teachers, "And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray." Matthew 24:11
"Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves." Matthew 7:15
Personally, I'm wary of mega-church pastors. Joel Osteen requires no explanation. But others, like Rick Warren and Bill Hybels, are greatly loved and revered among evangelicals. Need I remind you of the great success of Warren's Purpose Driven Life? Hey, I read it with the rest of you! But closer examination of the book finds it to be terribly lacking in solid teaching. As for Hybels, I find him to be as seeker-sensitive a goat herder as the rest of them. Yes, I attended his church Willow Creek off and on for a little over a year. What did I have to show for it? A broken relationship with my Savior and my family. While I can't blame this solely on the church, I can vouch for the fact that the church taught little to no Biblical principles, choosing instead to share feel-good stories with us week after week. Or how about the weekend that we were all supposed to be so impressed that our pastor was good friends with Bono of U2? The entire service that week consisted of watching an interview between the two. Shock of shocks--Bibles were not necessary that week at church. And, even bigger shock--Bono is hardly a Christian. So why am I listening to his propaganda in church? I can say firsthand and in hindsight that it appears that Hybels is most likely shepherding very few sheep at Willow Creek, but has quite a large herd of goats.
But back to my target for this particular post: Rick Warren. The perfect modern-day example of living apostasy. Not only has he had several opportunities to proclaim the gospel, grace, and salvation of Jesus Christ on national television and failed miserably. Not only has he proven himself time and again to be a liberal, wavering, weak witness for Christ. Not only has he taken the glorious celebration of Resurrection Sunday and turned it into a contest of numbers. Not only all of this, but now he has rescinded his original support of California Proposition 8, backtracked, and in the process once again defamed the holiness and righteousness of God and His laws. He's even expressing regret for supporting Prop 8. I don't think I have to explain to you why this is so disappointing. Although, I admit, coming from "Pastor" (and I use the term loosely) Rick Warren, this certainly does not surprise me.
Be aware. Not all false prophets come proclaiming their own divinity. Not all will ask you to "drink the Kool-Aid." Not all come claiming a gospel drastically and radically different from the true one. In fact, many twist and distort the true Gospel just enough that it appears as though we're all still in the same fold. Test their teachings. If they contradict the Word even a little bit, then they are wrong and will lead you down the wide path to destruction. Be saturated in the Truth through God's Word and through prayer.
"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?' And then will I declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.' " Matthew 7:21-23
I was just sent a link to a fantastic commentary on Warren's inaugural prayer--check it out.
