Sunday Morning Praise

It's interesting to me that the following song is categorized under Christmas or Advent songs in the hymnal, because I feel as if it's one we could sing daily! Just as people years ago cried for their Messiah to come, still today we cry to Him, "Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus!"

I couldn't find a video I liked that included words, so I've posted the words below. This Charles Wesley hymn is set to a tune that most of us are familiar with, so perhaps you can sing along this morning. Let us pray daily for the return of our glorious Lord!

Come, Thou long expected Jesus
Born to set Thy people free;
From our fears and sins release us,
Let us find our rest in Thee.
Israel’s Strength and Consolation,
Hope of all the earth Thou art;
Dear Desire of every nation,
Joy of every longing heart.

Born Thy people to deliver,
Born a child and yet a King,
Born to reign in us forever,
Now Thy gracious kingdom bring.
By Thine own eternal Spirit
Rule in all our hearts alone;
By Thine all sufficient merit,
Raise us to Thy glorious throne.
